Technical Requirements
ParentHelp123 was built to be as flexible and accessible as possible. Although we cannot provide technical support for your computer, we have addressed some of the more Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
Are there specific pieces of hardware I need to have?
You must have a computer, an internet connection, and a printer available. ParentHelp123 will operate on a PC as well as a MAC, and there are no speed requirements.
What software does ParentHelp123 need installed?
Our website generates applications in a PDF format. In order for you to
view these documents from our website you must have Adobe Reader version 6.0 or 7.0 installed on your system. You can download this free software at Adobe’s website. Click here to download it for free.
Which browser versions does the ParentHelp123 site support?
Our web site requires recent versions of Web browsers to display correctly.
Any of the following browsers will work:
- Internet Explorer 5+
- FireFox
- Opera 8+
- Safari
- Lynx
- Screen Readers
What browser options do I need to enable to use this web site?
- COOKIES: Cookies are small pieces of information that a web site writes to your machine to track information. In order for you to use the Parent Help123 site, your browser must be set to accept “cookies.” Your browser should default with cookies enabled; therefore, this will need to be addressed only if you have changed your browser to reject cookies. See attachment A on how to enable Cookies.
- JAVASCRIPT: Javascript is not required, but having Javascript enabled in your browser will enhance usability. Your browser should default with Javascript enabled; therefore, this will need to be addressed only if you have changed your browser setting to disable Javascript. See attachment B on how to enable Javascript.

- From Help, select About Internet Explorer
- It will show which version of Internet Explorer you have
How do I enable Cookies on my computer?
PC Users
Internet Explorer 5.5 and above
- From Tools select Internet Options
- Select the Privacy tab and set your privacy setting to ‘Medium’
- Click OK
Firefox 1.0.x
- From Tools select Options
- Select the Privacy icon
- Under Cookies
- Ensure ‘Allow sites to set cookies’ is ticked
- Click OK
Opera 8.x
- From Tools select Preferences
- Select the Advanced tab
- From the left hand side menu select Cookies
- Ensure ‘Accept all cookies’ is selected for the dropdown boxes
- Click OK
Mac Users
Firefox 1.0.x
- From Tools select Options
- Select the Privacy icon
- Under Cookies
- Ensure ‘Allow sites to set cookies’ is ticked
- Click OK
Internet Explorer 5.2
- From Tools select Internet Options
- Select the Privacy tab and set your privacy setting to ‘Medium’

- From Opera select Preferences
- Select the Advanced tab
- On the left hand side menu under Cookies ensure ‘Accept all cookies’ is selected for the dropdown boxes
- Click OK
Safari 1.3.x and Safari 2.x
- Select Preferences from the Safari menu
- Under Security, select ‘Accept Cookies’ and ensure ‘Always’ or ‘Only from sites you navigate to’ are activated via the radio button
- Close the window
How do I enable Javascript on my computer?
PC Users
Internet Explorer 5.5 and above
- From Tools select Internet Options
- Under the Security tab select the Internet icon
- Click the Custom level button
- For each of the options for Scripting, ensure ‘enable’ is selected
- Click OK
Firefox 1.0.x
- From Tools select Options
- Select the Web Features icon
- Ensure ‘Enable Java’ and ‘Enable Javascript’ are ticked
- Click OK
Opera 8.x
- From Tools select Preferences
- Select the Advanced tab
- From the left hand side menu select Content and ensure ‘Enable JavaScript’, ‘Enable Java’ and ‘Enable plug-ins’ are ticked
- Click OK
Mac Users
Internet Explorer 5.2
- From Explorer select Preferences
- Open the Web Browser menu and select Java
- Ensure ‘Enable Java’, ‘Log Java output’ and ‘Log Java exceptions’ are ticked
- Click OK
Opera 8.x
- From Opera select Preferences
- Under Advanced ensure ‘Enable plug-ins’, ‘Enable Java’ and ‘Enable JavaScript’ are ticked
- Click OK
Safari 1.3.x and Safari 2.x
- From Safari select Preferences
- Under Security ensure ‘Enable plug-ins’, ‘Enable Java’, and ‘Enable JavaScript’ are ticked
